GTE 3.0 slow startup on NT4 SP5

GWD Text Editor Forum: Technical Support: GTE 3.0 slow startup on NT4 SP5
Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By John Efstathiades on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 06:03 pm:

After installing some more software on my machine (Dell Latitude CPxJ) GTE now takes about 15 seconds to start-up i.e. there is a 15 second delay from double-clicking the GTE shortcut icon on my desktop to GTE appearing. There is a similar lag if I use the Windows Send To menu to send a file to GTE and GTE is already running.

I have tried reinstalling SP5 - that didn't help.

Any ideas?

TIA,
John.

I noticed the same 15 second start-up time after I upgraded to Win2k. Re-installed GTE 3.0 but it didn't help. I've had to remove some assoc.

I've been coming back here periodically to see if there was any action on this thread.
I've got NT4sp6a and saw the same slow startup. After reinstalling my operating system the response time is much better (2-3 seconds on PII-350). Don't know what the real change was....

I also have this problem. Even if GTE is already open and I double click a file type that GTE handles, it takes around 12 sec. to open that file (evan a small file with few lines) This is a fresh install on a new w2k 1 Ghtz machine.
