Problem with install

GWD Text Editor Forum: Technical Support: Problem with install
Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Kevin Rzemien on Thursday, December 9, 1999 - 09:45 pm:

I just received the software on CD and I'm having trouble installing from the CD. The setup program starts, but I only see it in the task bar (no dialog box appears).

I am running Windows NT.

Choose Run command from the Windows Start menu and type "X:\SETUP\32\DISK1\SETUP.EXE"

Postovani g.Vedrane

Još i konvertira 437 u 852.
ESC-sekvenci.

Jedno od rješenja ima INCA Spooler for Windows by INCA Hellas Ltd.

I am having problems with the version that I downloaded from the website.
Well actually a partial problem. The standard install that you offer to download seems to be upsetting something in the Win2K access permissions as I have to specifically tell it to run under an Admininstrator account or someone with similar permissions.
If I use the Euphoria install there is no such problem. Also the Euphoria install adds short-cuts and a folder to program files menu. The standard install does not put in the uninstall icon and it puts the GTE icon in the programs menu short cut area not in its own folder.

Is this usual?

Install aborts on my brand new Windows XP Professional Dell. I just downloaded the latest gtedit32.zip from gwdsoft.com. I have Administrator rights. After unziping to a directory, and telling it to install as my username, I see the dialog box saying "GWD text editor Setup is preparing the InstallShield(R) Wizard ...". The progress bar quickly goes to 99% and then I get a small dialog box with only a X icon and an OK button. After I press OK, the install windows close.
I am a registered user.
What should I do?

My bad!
I did not have adminstrator permissions. I could not create a dir in Program files.
The blank error message is still a bug however.

I was able to make it work by copying the GTEdit directory from my old PC, and copying the file: c:\windows\system\gwdctl32.dll also into the GTEdit directory. Then I just ran gte.exe.

Your welcome,
david.
