Visual Source Safe Username/Password
GWD Text Editor Forum: Technical Support: Visual Source Safe Username/Password
By Dave Martin on Monday, January 13, 2003 - 09:40 pm:
Is there a way to have GWD prompt users to enter their Visual Source Safe username/password instead of setting it in TOOLS > VISUAL SOURCESAFE > OPTIONS menu? I do not wish for that information to be "persistent" on the computer.

You can leave the user name and password fields blank and Visual Source Safe should ask you for password when you logon.

Vedran, If I leave the user name and password fields blank, Visual Source Safe does ask for a user name and password only if I choose the TOOLS > VISUAL SOURCESAFE > VISUAL SOURCESAFE menu. What I really need to know is if there is a way to leave the user name/password information blank in the TOOLS > VISUAL SOURCESAFE > OPTIONS menu and then open a file for edit (that is checked into VSS) and once I begin to make changes to that file can GWD prompt for VSS user name and password and allow edits to the file? It does work if the user name and password are already entered into the TOOLS > VISUAL SOURCESAFE > OPTIONS menu, but not otherwise. Thanks, Dave
