IndentBlock/UnindentBlock
GWD Text Editor Forum: Suggestions: IndentBlock/UnindentBlock

I use IndentBlock/UnindentBlock to move selected lines to the left or right. Since I like to use 4 space indentation, It'd be great to have a way to indent four spaces at a time. I can't use Tab, because my tabs are set to 8 spaces (because I have to co-exist with emacs users*). I'd like to still have IndentBlock/UnindentBlock do a one space shift, because that is also useful, but adding another IndentBlockX where X is a number of spaces would be great. *emacs - at least the configuration of emacs that my fellow developers use - uses tabs and spaces in an odd way. If they hit tab, they get 4 embedded blanks. If they hit tab again, the spaces go away and they get a tab character equal to 8 spaces. Hit tab again, they get 4 blanks and a tab. Man this drives me crazy! The only way I could reconcile this is to use 8 space tabs and remap by tab key to a macro called 4space which inserts for spaces. In this way, I can read emacs' 8 space tabs, but I alway write spaces, not tabs. Actually, maybe this would be a nice enhancement, to allow for emacs-like formatting... Miguel

Whoops... nevermind on the InentBlock/UnindentBlock one. I got thinking about it, and I realized I could just record a macro pretty easily... already done. It'd still be nice to have an emacs formatting compatibility mode. Miguel

You can also specify the number of characters for IndentBlock command in the Editor Options dialog box.
